The youth are gaining hope and changing through faith!
On 21st August, pastor Ock-soo Park appeared on Good morning Kenya (KBC: a government-run broadcasting station in Kenya) and took part in the talk show for an hour from 8am to 9am. David Waweru (Chairman of KBC) visited Korea and met pastor Ock-soo Park in June. Mr Waweru has had interest in pastor Park and IYF working for the young all over the world so that he proposed Ock-soo Park to appear on the show adjusting to the schedule of the World camp in Kenya.
Host : As far as I know, IYF has been doing a lot of work so far. Please talk about activities of Goodnews Corps, World camp and IYF.
Pastor Ock-soo Park : There are serious youth problems worldwide, but non of countries succeeds in solving them. What IYF does is to lead their mind. The bottom line is that either drug addicts or students having troubles have no power to overcome problems even if they don’t like them, as nobody wants to get sick. While getting closer from hearts and sharing together, students open hearts and change through exchanging mind. As we have been working with IYF, we have seen those things many times. So many young people in Kenya have changed through IYF.
Host : You have been doing a lot of work supporting poor countries, such as Peru and Paraguay. I have been told that there was a great response from those countries about IYF.
Pastor Ock-soo Park : There are problems, such as a crime, drugs and a single mother in South America. A teenage girl gives birth and suffers from it with her child. The mind she has is too immature to think such a thing. The reason why a mind is getting weak is that people live confined themselves. Those who commit suicide and have mental illness have characteristics listening to nobody. You should open your heart and listen to others. When you are troubled with your own thought, your mind is unable to take any rest. Therefore, I believe there is nothing better than having faith to make your heart take rest and open. As you have faith believing in Jesus in your mind, you’ll become to open your heart to others and peace comes upon you so that your mind will be sound and strong. That is the reason I deliver the Word to the youth during the World camps. The amazing thing is that they change. If there is any troublemaker around you, TV viewers, please send them to the World camp held next year in Nairobi.
While pastor Ock-soo Park was taking part in the talk show, he preached the gospel about ‘How our sins are forgiven.’ And he explained in detail about how the youth can change amazingly and their life will be different when the world of heart is implanted through IYF in Kenya. As the interest of the viewers reached the climax, inquiries about the IYF branch, how to join the IYF activities, time, venue, how to sponsor and so on were deluged to the broadcasting station.
We are able to see clearly that Kenya and the citizens of Nairobi have had much interest in IYF and the gospel through the talk show, and God has been preparing a foundation for missionary work and IYF activities in Kenya.
